Art Teacher at Capital High School “I have been passionate about creating art for as long as I can remember. Art has always been a part of my identity, and I have worked in various mediums, including oil paint, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, and mixed media. In this monochromatic piece, I chose an image of the famous jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie as my subject. As well as being known for his involvement in creating the Bebop style of jazz, Dizzy is also known for his signature blown-up cheeks when he plays the trumpet, which I always thought was such a striking image. “ Bill Johnson has taught art in public schools for 19 years at various levels but currently teaches at Capital High School in Santa Fe. He has had several solos and group shows at the “Eye on the Mountain” art gallery on Delgado street in Santa Fe. $20 to ship
