NANCY OUIMET, OWNER

Nancy Ouimet’s natural curiosity has helped her to enjoy a varied life and career. Never one to settle on one pursuit, Ms. Ouimet has explored a wide variety of professions and hobbies.

With her undergraduate degree in Journalism and Art from Rutgers, then master’s degree in Design from Pratt Institute in hand, Nancy Ouimet pursued both Corporate and entrepreneurial work, which has taken her through broadcast television, documentary photography for Life and National Geographic, work with Money Market transactions for Goldman Sachs, Satellite illustration for Hughes Aerospace and Producer of New Media for Marvel Comics. 

After the events of 9/11, Ms. Ouimet decided to take matters into her own hands and pursue life from yet another point of view, entering the phase in her life of entrepreneurship. Ouimet quit the corporate lifestyle and landed in Santa Fe, New Mexico from New York City to open her first small business, a bed and breakfast, and ran it successfully for 4 years until she took a parenting break. She never abandoned the creative side of her curiosity, however, as from an early age she considered herself a visual artist. 

With the combined skills of producing art and managing business on many levels, Ms. Ouimet eventually entered a career that became her calling: the retail art gallery business. For the last Fifteen years she has owned Canyon Road Contemporary Art, where she represents about Thirty contemporary artists in arguably one of the world’s most venerable art districts, Canyon Road in Santa Fe. She enjoys interfacing with illustrious artists and collectors, as well as the many high altitude mountain sports of the Rocky Mountains.
